LSE Careers runs a Parliamentary Internships programme open to new and returning MSc and PhD students from all disciplines. These part-time, voluntary internships run throughout Michaelmas and Lent Terms with Members of Parliament (MPs), Peers in the House of Lords, and parts of the Palace of Westminster administration.
The roles are an excellent opportunity for students to gain invaluable experience witnessing the Parliamentary process and applying your studies first hand.
A typical internship may include:
- research projects and policy guidance
- scrutiny and monitoring of bills and legislation
- drafting of press releases, speeches and briefings
- constituency casework support, including managing communications
- general office support
To find out more about the opportunities, visit the LSE Parliamentary Internships section on the LSE Careers website and if you’re interested complete an internship portal registration form to be able to access live opportunities. Some opportunities are live now and more will be added as term progresses, in line with the needs of each parliamentarian.
We’re also running some information seminars at the start of term which you can sign up for on CareerHub.
Good luck!
