Technical interviews and numerical testing within finance – Wednesday 12 October, 3-5pm

Learn how to prepare, understand, and deal with technical interviews and numeracy tests in this seminar led by Optiver. It will involve:

  • going over an example numeracy test whilst under pressure
  • discussing typical questions used in technical interviews
  • guidance on how to approach these questions in a structured way
  • how to answer common questions

So by the end you’ll understand the rationale for using technical interviews in the assessment process, know how to prepare, and have practical tips on how to succeed.

How to perform well at interviews – Tuesday 18 October, 1-3pm

This interactive workshop will give you the opportunity to review your interview preparation approach, formulate suitable answers, and practise your technique. By the end of this workshop you will:

  • understand the impact of effective preparation
  • learn performance techniques to enable a successful interview
  • be able to recognise and articulate your experience and skills in a relevant and persuasive manner
  • have the opportunity to practise structuring and articulating effective answers

Case study skills club for beginners – Friday 21 October, 1-3pm

These seminars are for students who have a basic understanding of case study interviews but want to prepare further and develop confidence through practising example cases with student interview partners and receiving peer feedback.

Get in-depth understanding of the main components of case study interviews, particularly the overall structure and process, greater awareness of how to build rapport and the importance of interpersonal skills, and increase your confidence using analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills to complete case interviews.
