What is the LSE Careers European Internships Fair?
Our annual careers fair in Brussels, run in collaboration with Sciences Po in Paris and the College of Europe in Bruges, is a must for any students interested in working in public affairs and policy within the European Institutions and associated organisations.
This year the fair is taking place on Friday 23 March and, as always, is open to students from all disciplines and years of study (with the proviso that some of the opportunities presented will be open only to master’s level students). Each year the fair attracts a number of public affairs and strategic communications agencies, lobbying organisations, think tanks, professional services firms, consultancies and international organisations, all looking to recruit high-calibre interns and graduates for roles in Brussels.
Need help with travel and accommodation costs?
We appreciate that students attending the fair incur travel and, potentially, accommodation costs, so we will be offering a number of £100 grants to support those who might not otherwise be able to attend. Please complete this short application form by 26 January 2018. If you’re awarded funding then you’ll automatically be registered for the fair. Successful applicants will be informed by 16 February 2018.
Following the fair, you will have the opportunity to join a group of Brussels-based alumni for a panel discussion organised on our behalf by the LSE Brussels alumni association. Panellists working in a variety of roles and organisations will give an overview of their professional lives since graduating, provide insights into what it’s like to live and work in Brussels and answer your questions.
Hosted by the Committee of the Regions, the panel will take place on Friday afternoon at 2pm. If you wish to attend, please be aware that this event must be booked separately by Wednesday 14 March 2018.
Other events in Brussels
On Thursday afternoon, Harwood Levitt Consulting is hosting an interactive workshop at their offices in Brussels for LSE students attending the fair. Spaces are limited, so if you are interested, make sure you book your place.
Finally, on Thursday evening, fair attendees will be invited to join LSE alumni for drinks and a chance to chat informally. Details of timing and location will be circulated closer to the event.
On Thursday 8 February we will be holding a Q&A to help you prepare for your trip to Brussels: we will give an overview of all the activities, suggestions on how to make the most of your time, and some thoughts on what you can do to prepare effectively. Bring along any questions you might have!
If you are considering applying for an internship at the European Commission, come along to our information session which is taking place on Monday 22 January at 5pm. You will be given an overview of the application process, recommendations on researching individual DG’s, advice on how to select useful content for the application form and lobby effectively. As well as up to the minute advice from EPSO recruiters, we will also offer you hints and suggestions from LSE alumni working as trainees and in permanent roles at the Commission.
