Joseph Daul – Chairman of the EPP Group of the European Parliament

Joseph Daul was elected to the European Parliament in 1999. Since 2002 he has been the Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, and under his chairmanship, the committee contributed significantly to the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy in 2003.  He is also chairman of the European Parliamentary Association which has its seat in Strasbourg and which aims to help give parliamentary life a more convivial dimension, allowing Members of the European Parliament also to establish contacts in academic, economic and cultural circles.

Pete Dorey – Cardiff University

Pete Dorey is Professor of British Politics at Cardiff University, and has written extensively on aspects of British Conservatism. Two of his most recent books on this topic are British Conservatism and Trade Unionism, 1945-64 (Ashgate, 2009) and British Conservatism: The Politics and Philosophy of Inequality(I.B. Dr Spyros Economides is Senior Lecturer in International Relations and European Politics in the European Institute at the London School of Economics, and is Acting Director of the Hellenic Observatory. He received the Robert Mackenzie Prize for his doctoral thesis on The International Implications of the Greek Civil War.
