Following the first Queen’s Speech under a Conservative majority since 1996, we sat down with Professor Simon Hix to discuss the key bills proposed by the government and what they might look like in practice.

How will the Conservative approach differ now they are no longer in coalition with the Liberal Democrats? Do the policies announced mark a return to a more traditional conservative position, with echoes of Thatcherism? With the EU referendum taking centre stage, what challenges will David Cameron face from within his own party whilst ruling with a small majority? And finally, what is the future of the Human Rights Act? Simon gives his expert analysis.
