FRA Masterclass groupThe 26 participants have spent three days learning about changes within climate change and the global economy. Day one was focused on the overarching international debate and key trends within the economics of climate change, with a special emphasis on innovation.

Next the participants looked at a variety of economic instruments currently implemented, drawing together international examples. Finally, they focused on cities through a policy perspective, providing practical examples to address the key points.

With the Paris Conference of the Parties (COP), the most important global climate change convention, only six months away in December, there was unprecedented interest and demand for the 25 places at the Masterclass. The Academic Committee had an extremely difficult decision to choose the participants based, with only one in five applicants receiving the chance to attend the programme. LSE faculty Mr Dimitri Zenghelis, Dr Luca Taschini and Dr Graham Floater led the programme and additionally met with key policy makers in the sector during their visit to Spain. Dr Floater also spoke at an LSE pre-departure event for young people heading to LSE this year to study whilst in Madrid.
