Day one focused on cloud computing and its impact on business, including the challenges and management of cloud computing and future directions. Next the participants looked at the impact of disruptive technologies on competition, designing appropriate strategic responses. The final day covered the challenges of innovating in an increasingly digital world. There was a special focus on the impact on organisational innovation, business risks, the future of work, and relationships between organisations and their constituents.

Christian Thiel of LSE Enterprise commented:

This year’s third LSE Masterclass in Social Sciences here in Madrid was a great success. The 30 students and young professionals selected out of the well over 100 applicants were invited to attend an intensive three-day course with top-level LSE academics on Technology, Business and the Rise of the Machines: The future of the Internet. While certainly the world leading research presented and innovative teaching styles employed had a great impact on the overall participant experience, the composition and dynamic of what was an exceptionally engaging and curious group contributed to the superb feedback we received from participants and academics alike.

The next masterclass will be held in December on the topic of Spain, the EU and the USA: What future do they have in the new Global Economy?
