LSE Cities is leading the New Climate Economy research programme on cities (NCE Cities) for the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate. What are the economic opportunities, risks and barriers for cities in taking climate action? How can cities can achieve core economic objectives in the context of increased climate risk?

NCE Cities Co-director, Dr Graham Floater, recently spoke at a lunchtime talk on ´Infrastructure, Energy and Technology: the Business of Cities in the 21st Century´ to senior executives from the sector. He took questions on the speed of urban growth in the developing world, the problems of getting ´locked into´ badly-designed urban planning, and the economic benefits of well-designed modern cities. The  LSE-British Chamber of Commerce of Spain special event was chaired by Adam Austerfield, Director of Global Market Development at LSE Enterprise and also Vice-President of the Chamber, responsible for the Madrid region.

The main points of the presentation care captured on the New Climate Economy website.
