This year’s International Financial Strategy and Corporate Finance programme was the fourth time that undergraduates from Jiangsu Province in China have visited LSE for a custom programme.
The students analysed the roles and applications of international financial strategy and corporate finance practices and concepts in contemporary organisations and enterprises.
In addition to modules covering capital structure, the role of monetary policy in corporate finance, valuation fundamentals in international financial strategy, financial capital and the global regulatory agenda, the fortnight included a session on undertaking postgraduate study at LSE, and another from LSE Careers giving advice tailored to participants’ needs.
The programme was organised in cooperation with Suman Education International, with students selected by academic merit and language proficiency.

LSE is a very good school for business, one of the top five in the UK. My major is in financial engineering so this was a very good chance to experience study here.
The professors are very nice, and know a lot. The forms of study are different from China – I enjoyed the class participation here. At LSE we had the chance to learn about our own banking industry in a way we don’t at home, and we were able to comment on it. In Manchester our final exam was by presentation, and here it was by essay – it’s good to have different test formats. I gained a lot of knowledge in two short weeks and didn’t find the exam too difficult.

This was a memorable and enjoyable fortnight. It was challenging to follow the language sometimes but the teachers were interesting and humorous. The pace is fast in London, reminding me of Beijing. It was interesting to see the architecture – the houses are very different from China.
