Ensuring a Fair Digital Market: Independence of Media Regulators

The session will focus on the ongoing revision of the Audio-Visual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) and the independence of media regulatory authorities, as outlined in Article 30 of the Directive. The aim of this session is to provide MEPs and other stakeholders with an overview of the key challenges to be addressed in the revision.

Influencing the Role of EU and National Policy in Protecting Freedom of Media and Expression

This special session organised by the LSE Media Policy Project provided updates of the latest information on what is happening in media policy in Brussels, particularly in relation to audio-visual services, media plurality, and the independence of regulators. The session also explored ways in which academics, civil society groups and others can engage with European or national policymaking, and provided a much needed opportunity to discuss the media challenges in the region and how policy can address them.
