I am a passionate enthusiast for public participation in the news media. It’s what my book is all about. And what better – and more amusing – example than John Kelly’s attempt to revive his Voxford blog in his home town Washington DC.
After a terrific stint blogging as a Yankee amongst the Dreaming Spires, John is back in the US capital and reading to start blogging again for the Post with his off-beat thoughts on life in the political heart of America.
But, let’s be honest, John is a laid-back kind of mainstream-hack-gone-digital who has spotted that crowd-sourcing is a great way to get the punters to do your work.
Check out the brilliantly creative response from his readers to a plea to help our hero in his quest for a title for his new blog.
My favourites:
I went to Oxford for an education and all I got was this lousy Blog!
John Kelly’s Bloggy Bottom
Kellydoscope
Belly-of-Kelly
The District of Kellumbia
I like John Kelly’s Bloggy Bottom (a play on the Washington neighborhood called Foggy Bottom), but it sounds like a bad intestinal problem. John Kelly’s Reflecting Pool is good, too, since we have so many reflecting pools in Washington. (And I’m sort of shallow, like them.)
If only “Director’s Blog” wasn’t taken.
