As the 18-month institutional partnership between South Africa’s University of Cape Town (UCT) and LSE moves from strength to strength, the UCT Vice-Chancellor, Dr Max Price will give a lecture at LSE on Monday 24 October entitled “Is South African Society More Equal Than When Apartheid Ended in 1994?”

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town, Dr Max Price visits LSE on Monday 24 October to deliver a lecture entitled “Is South African Society More Equal Than When Apartheid Ended in 1994?”

Dr Price has had a distinguished and varied career, working in the fields of public health, health policy, medical education and human resources for health planning.

This is the latest in the LSE-UCT lecture series with Professor Thandika Mkandawire and former Director of LSE, Sir Howard Davies delivering lectures in May 2010 and April 2011 respectively. UCT’s Professor Edgar Pieterse gave a lecture on African Urbanism here at LSE in January.

LSE and UCT agreed an institutional partnership 18 months ago which, apart from the LSE-UCT lecture series, will lead to student exchanges, research collaborations and a summer school.

While here, Dr Price will meet LSE academics who are already embarking on research collaborations with UCT.
