Our role as the LSE Volunteer Centre is to connect students to causes they are passionate about and to make a difference in our communities. With a new academic year underway in a few weeks time we’re really looking forward to working with our charity partners to help them recruit. We want to make it as easy as possible for our partners to recruit from LSE and here is how charities can work with us.
1. Upload your opportunities to our vacancy board
The easiest and quickest way to start recruiting is by uploading your volunteering roles on LSE CareerHub, our free online vacancy board. Once you’ve created an organisation account you can post your opportunities so our students and alumni (up to five years) can find them. We’re looking for anything from one-offs to long-term volunteering opportunities and any roles from event stewards to trustees, but we’re especially looking for skilled roles because LSE students have lots to offer.
2. Come along to our Charity Briefing
Are you looking to recruit volunteers over the coming year? Join the LSE Volunteer Centre team from 1-2pm on 14th September to learn how you can engage with our 10,000 students and 50,000 alumni.
We’ll be sharing tips on how to create engaging opportunities, explain the motivations of our students and alumni and give you insights in to our specialist programmes, such as our consultancy project. Sign up on our Zoom link.
3. Sign up for the LSE Volunteer Fairs 2021
This year we’re hosting two virtual Volunteer Fairs to give you the opportunity to meet our student volunteers. It’s a chance for charities to talk about their roles and how our students can apply to them. The dates are Tuesday 12 October 1-2:30pm and Thursday 28 October 1-2:30pm. Interested? Fill out our application form!
4. Join us on campus for Charity Tuesdays
Every #CharityTuesday we host a charity on campus, to meet our fantastic students who want to know more about your volunteering opportunities. Fill out our short form to apply for a space, before the deadline on Friday 17 September.
5. Use us as a sounding board
Looking to find new volunteers but unsure on the best way forward? Get in touch with us (volunteer@lse.ac.uk) as we’d be delighted to set up a telephone call to go over any aspect of the recruitment process. We’ve worked with thousands of charities over the years helping them put in place the best recruitment and management strategies to ensure both they and the volunteer have an excellent experience.
6. Write a piece for our blog
We’re always on the lookout for new and engaging content so if you have LSE students volunteering with you, we’d love to hear about their experiences. Organisations can also write informational blog posts and opinion pieces.
