Estimated reading time: 10 minutes

The LSE Volunteer Centre’s Community Engagement Programme is a guided venture that will provide anyone new to volunteering with the support necessary to work effectively on research-based consultancy projects focused on causes they are passionate about. Applications are now open.

On the programme, you’ll be collaborating with other students from across the LSE to help a charity to address a pressing challenge.  Your team will be supported by the Volunteer Centre, an alumni mentor and other relevant LSE divisions.

The programme offers you the chance to make a difference to your community by applying your existing skills at the same time as acquiring new ones.  Whether you’re looking to develop your expertise in literature review, learn about a new research method, develop your team-work skills, learn about consultancy, innovate, make an impact, acquire work experience, or build connections in the consultancy sector, this programme has something to offer you!

Nine of our charity partners seek teams of volunteer consultants to help them to solve pressing challenges in fields including educational equity, social care, sustainable development, refugee support and interfaith dialogue.

To learn more about the community engagement programme you can read our other blog post as well as reading about the experience of a student who took part in the CEP last year.

Selection criteria
This programme is open to all students at the LSE. We seek to recruit applicants who express a strong interest in the programme and anticipate that they will gain a lot from it.
Applicants who meet these criteria, but are also new to volunteering, will be given some priority. One of the programme’s chief aims is to support students who are interested in volunteering but have not yet volunteered or have limited volunteering experience.

Application process

To apply check out the opportunity on CareerHub and complete the application form that’s linked to the CareerHub opportunity. If you have any questions please email volunteer@lse.ac.uk

We will notify all applicants of the outcome of their applications and of next steps in early- to mid-December 2021.
