19-23 September was LSE Welcome Week 2016 and we were delighted to welcome our new 2016/17 intake of undergraduate and masters students to the Department of Government.

Welcome Week at LSE provides the chance for our new students to make friends, learn more about studying at LSE as well as life in London. In addition to registration and programme inductions, we hosted welcome receptions for our new undergraduate and MSc students, giving them a chance to meet faculty, get to know each other and start to feel #partofLSE.

This year we welcomed over 450 new undergraduate students and over 300 masters students into the Department of Government, which is one of the largest academic units at LSE and a leading centre in political science. Throughout the week we had the opportunity to speak to many of our new students to find out why they chose to study at LSE and what they are most looking forward to during their time here at LSE Government:

‘LSE is at the cutting edge of research and I’m looking forward to learning about the latest developments’
Matin, undergraduate student

‘LSE will hopefully help me become a critical member of society’
Julian, MSc student

‘LSE are very committed to their students and promote diversity’
Roberta, MSc student

‘LSE is in in the vibrant city of London and I’m looking forward to making the most of all the lectures and talks’
Joshua, MSc student

‘I am looking forward to being in an international community, with people who are passionate about similar topics’
Emma, MSc student

‘Everyone is very engaging and people have diverse views about the world and interesting things to say’
Matthew, MSc student

‘The academic and student environment at the LSE is very stimulating’
Viviana, MSc student

‘LSE is one of the best Universities in the world’
Cersar, undergraduate student

‘LSE is so close to where everything is happening and I’m really excited about the public lectures’
Ianthe, undergraduate student

Good luck to all our students for the 2016/17 academic year!
