Undergraduate student Cedric Tan gives us a taste of student life in Department of Government.
Ever wondered what it’s like to be an undergraduate student in the LSE Department of Government? In this vlog, 2nd year BSc Politics and Economics student, Cedric Tan shows us some of the fantastic views and facilities in the department’s new home, the brand new LSE Centre Building, as well as interviewing some of his fellow students.
The Department of Government has a wide range of courses spanning political science and political theory with Cedric’s classmates Zhen Yang, Angela and Somjeeta citing comparative politics, introduction into political science and research design in political science as their favourite modules. Courses in political science are popular with students across LSE and taking these classes is a great way to get to know students studying other disciplines.
However, the student experience in the Department of Government goes beyond our world class teaching, with students applauding the support from their academic mentors in providing career advice and generally being open to receiving any sort of questions from curious students during office hours. Also noted by the students was how important wellbeing is taken in the Department and LSE, with our recent puppy therapy session emerging as a particularly popular initiative.
Cedric tells us that there is a ‘great Government core’ which is obvious when you explore the many wonderful things the Department has to offer. Cedric regularly vlogs life at LSE and you can view more of his videos on his YouTube channel.
