Although things may now be quieter on the teaching front, there are still a few events and conferences coming up over the summer.

Recruiting International Graduate Students in a Challenging Environment

Thursday 18 July
2:00 pm ET

The first event on the horizon is an Inside Higher Ed webinar on recruiting international graduate students in a challenging environment. Although its focus is principally on the issues facing American universities amidst the current cooling of the US-China relationship, it could still be relevant to institutions not based in the United States.

1:30-3:00 pm BST

UCL Access & Widening Participation Research Seminar: Dr Brian Bell
Tuesday 30 July
1:30-3:00 pm BST

There is a definite widening-access-and-participation theme emerging as, over the summer, University College London is holding two Access and Widening Participation Research seminars. The first, on social mobility and the well-being of individuals, will take place on 25th July and will be presented by Professor Tak Wing Chan from UCL’s Institute of Education. The second seminar, on the changing geography of intergenerational social mobility, will be presented by Dr Brian Bell from King’s College on 30th July.

Student Experience Conference 2019
Monday 4 November
9:00 am-5:00 pm BST
University of Derby (Enterprise Centre)

Although the University of Derby’s Student Experience Conference will be held in the autumn, the early bird deadline for registration is 14th July. It will include presentations on ensuring success for a diverse student body, supporting success over the student journey and communicating for success. A key feature of the conference is that all papers will be delivered or co-delivered by students.
