The next meeting for the LSE Python User Group (LSE PUG) will feature the High Performance Computing (HPC) team giving a demonstration of how to use Python coding with Fabian, the LSE HPC service.

Taking place on Wednesday 12 October between 6-8pm in the Alumni Theatre (NAB), the session will focus on illustrating a number of ways you can use Fabian to increase the performance and throughput of your Python scripts and other computational work, in particular when working with large datasets or complex simulations.

Members of the HPC team will also be available after the main talk, to discuss your particular problems or offer advice on how to get started on Fabian:

  • 18:00 – 18:15 | Welcome and Refreshments
  • 18:15 – 19:00 | Using Python on Fabian
  • 19:00 – 19:30 | Talk tbc
  • 19:30 – 20:00 | Networking | Problem Solving

Available to researchers at LSE, Fabian provides a central secure service for the easy processing of large datasets or compute-intensive tasks. If you are working on a research problem and find your computer is struggling with the data, the Fabian service is something to consider. For more information about LSE’s HPC service, please see the Fabian Website.

LSE PUG is a regular meetup for those interested in learning and understanding Python programming. The aim of the meetup is to provide an open forum to explore Python, network with other enthusiasts and enhance your coding skills.
