Christine Whitehead gave a video presentation at the Policy Dialogue on Housing and Ageing at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University. Her part of the Dialogue was about how to manage household finances as we retire later, live longer, and often need to help the younger generation. She stressed that current older owner-occupiers are better off than earlier generations but also may well be better off than those coming into owner-occupation later. Other sessions discussed the much more difficult situation for private tenant especially in Australia where income support is very limited. She thought it was an interesting event, even with the time difference.
