Brown who?

I spent last night as the guest on a phone-in on American public radio fielding questions about Tony Blair’s departure. This was an intelligent and liberal US audience but it was clear that “Karen from LA” had never heard of Gordon Brown, while “Sean from Wisconsin” was puzzled that TB stood down two years before his term ended. Of course, most Brits didn’t know who Alan Greenspan was either (the most important person in the global economy for a decade actually…). For what

it is worth I offered the opinion (see my article about Brown here) that Brown will be at least as pro-American, although probably not as pro-Bush, as Blair. But then most Americans aren’t pro-Bush anymore either.
