The JournalismAI Collab Challenges are a series of global collaborative experiments where news organisations explore how they might innovate their journalism using AI technologies. Three weeks ago, we announced the line-ups of participants who have been selected to join the Americas and EMEA cohorts. Today, it’s time to complete our tour around the globe.

🎆 We are excited to announce that 5 news organisations from 4 countries in Asia-Pacific have been selected to join the 2021 JournalismAI Collab Challenges. 🎆

We received a substantial amount of applications from the region and we would like to thank every news organisation that took the time to apply.

Meet the 2021 Collab participants in APAC

Here are the participants of the Collab Challenge in Asia-Pacific 🌏:

They will work with the Times School of Media and the Computer Science Engineering Department of Bennett University exploring how we might use AI technologies and audience insights to help newsrooms design more relevant and interactive news narratives.

Looking ahead

The 5 participants of the APAC cohort join 19 other media organisations from the Americas and EMEA in a programme that we’ll see them working together for the next six months. Participants will define the challenges they’ll work on, imagine potential solutions, and turn them into prototypes and innovative storytelling formats with the support of our regional partners. 

Rahul Dass, who leads the team that will support the APAC participants on behalf of Bennett University, says:

At the end of the programme, the participants will present their work at the second edition of the JournalismAI Festival that we will host in November 2021 (dates to be announced).
