Trip to Oxford

Oxford is a beautiful city in Southern England. If you are a student in the United Kingdom, then you can get a discount via Oxford Tube for travelling to Oxford.

Our day began with minor bumps. We missed our first coach as Google Maps ditched Oxfordus. But thanks to Oxford Tube for letting us get on the coach at any time of the same day! We were ten students from LSE travelling to Oxford. Our first site at Oxford was the Ashmolean Museum. We were a bunch of people who had very little knowledge about art but the museum looked lovely. We were most excited on seeing a picture of Ganapati (an Indian God) as most of us were Indians.

After visiting the Ashmolean Museum, we went to Carfax Tower. It is supposed to be the highest point in Oxford from where you can get the whole view of the city. Climbing up the spiral staircase was a real job but it was worth the effort. The view was outstanding. We were all starving so we went to the Oxford Cafe in the Closed Market. I ate Chicken Tikka Roll there. Finding your cuisine in a foreign land is a delight. It was one of the rarest combination as I have never been served Chicken Tikka Roll with French fries.

Ridhi in OxfordAfter the meal, we went for a two-hour walking city tour. We were told about the Oxford University Colleges by one of the cutest and funniest tour guides I have even seen. He told us about the tiffs between the colleges, many of them claiming to be the oldest. We also visited the Bodleian Library, Radcliffe Camera and the Bridge of Sighs.

The lush green fields of the Christ Church Meadows were the highlight of the tour. It felt so good to walk around the meadows. Oxford is such a quiet and peaceful city as compared to the cities I have lived in (New Delhi and London). So if you want to take a break from your hectic life, I would surely recommend a trip to Oxford.
