2024 marks LSE’s first year of students graduating from both LSE and the Uggla Family Scholars Programme. But you may be wondering what the Uggla Family Scholars Programme is?
The Programme provides financial support worth over £21,000 per year to 10 new undergraduate students every year, alongside mentorship, career development and opportunities for students (or known as Scholars) to achieve their future success.
Launched by LSE alumnus Lance Uggla, both he and the Uggla Family Foundation provide a range of support for the Scholars, with Programme Manager Ikenna Acholonu and other teams across LSE being there to support the Scholars every step of the way!
As the first students who received scholarships through the Programme end their time at LSE, read the reflections from some of our Scholars on how the Programme has helped them prepare for life after LSE:
———
Samiha – “The support and encouragement I received whilst being an Uggla Family Scholar has had a significant effect on me, and will continue to do so beyond university. I have learnt that no aim is too great or difficult to achieve. This pushes me to aspire highly beyond university, using the valuable lessons and network I gained from the Programme to my advantage in this pursuit”.
Raza – “Mentoring from the staff on this scholarship has shaped my personality both professionally and personally to take on the challenges in my future corporate career”.
Aleesha – “Gaining a scholarship to LSE was a game-changer, opening doors to invaluable connections and equipping me with the tools necessary to propel my career forward”
Mahnoor – “Being an Uggla Family Scholar has provided me with an amazing, supportive network that has facilitated my professional development through extensive resources, workshops, and targeted skill-building. Above all, being a Scholar has instilled in me the self-confidence and work ethic I needed to chase after my goals no matter how difficult they appeared to be prior to graduating from LSE”.
Arif – “The Uggla Family Scholars Programme has equipped me with knowledge about the world of work and the wide range of opportunities out there. I’m grateful to have been introduced to people from many backgrounds and occupations and gained a better grasp of where I see my future heading”.
