Welcome, welcome, welcome, and congratulations on your offer to LSE! Are you ready to step into LSE and begin your exciting journey here?

Starting university might be daunting, especially for those who leave their homes far away or need time to get used to a new environment, but don’t worry at all. I was in your shoes last year, and I know how complicated the feelings are – excitement mixed with the anxiety of facing uncertainty at the start of this new stage of life at LSE. Let me share some tips from last year and what I did to settle in. LSE has everything you need in the first week to ease your anxiety and support you.

Here are the things you can do:

Welcome

Everyone should receive the Welcome information pack email from LSE. If you haven’t, check your inbox or spam folder. If you still can’t find it, make sure you check the LSE Welcome Site regularly, as LSE will regularly maintain these pages during Welcome. Also, follow LSE’s official Instagram account @londonschoolofeconomics for updates.

Welcome covers events like society sign-ups, departmental briefing info, and campus guides that help you get used to LSE student life. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet new friends and explore all the opportunities available at LSE.

LSE Careers

If you are ready to kickstart your career, check out the LSE Careers services available for you! Even if you are not currently looking for job opportunities, it’s good to explore this amazing service early on. Getting familiar with the careers service will set you up to know what kinds of career support you can get – don’t forget to book an appointment with a career consultant to find out about careers or volunteer opportunities that will be of interest to you personally!

Moreover, if you are looking for part-time job opportunities on campus, you definitely need to check this out, as most roles will open for application around September.

LSE Residential Life

Many newcomers will be staying in LSE halls, and as someone who has been there, I can say staying in a hall of residence maximised my enjoyment and made my LSE life more interesting. Please join the WhatsApp channel created by each hall’s admin and follow the LSE Residential Life Instagram @lsereslife. You can also find out the latest on the LSE Halls Life website – make sure you don’t miss any incredible events held by them!

LSESU

Exploring the LSE Students’ Union (LSESU) is a must for freshers! Societies are the heart and soul of student life at LSE, and becoming a member is the best way to get more out of your time at university. With more than 250 societies ranging from academic, activities, and interests to sports, you can definitely find some roles that suit you the most.

LSESU will have a Welcome Fair where you will get the chance to know the societies. Every student at LSE should be able to sign up for your own LSESU account after enrolment. Definitely a must-go!

LSE Student Hub App

The Student Hub app brings together everything that LSE has to offer to make your experience at LSE the best it can be.

By using this app you can explore your Welcome calendar, book time with academics and support services, view your timetable and use the new directory feature to see who’s on your programme.

This app is available on the App Store, Google Play and on the web.

Students@LSE

LSE has provided a platform for students to share and express their experiences and tips at LSE, from budgeting to travel. You can get the content you need by visiting the Students@LSE website or the official LSE Instagram @londonschoolofeconomics or TikTok account, @lse.

Enjoy your time at LSE, and make the most out of these opportunities. Welcome to your new adventure!
