Mahon O’Brien is Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Sussex. His work focuses mainly on nineteenth- and twentieth-century European philosophy. His first book, Heidegger and Authenticity: From Resoluteness to Releasement (Continuum, 2011), focuses on Heidegger and the question of authenticity. His current research project offers a new approach to the Heidegger controversy and, in particular, examines the notion of an authentic historical community in Heidegger’s thought. Read his essay on the Forum’s blog, ‘Misadventures in Political Philosophy‘, for more about his work.
