The Observer has published a debate between journalist Yvonne Roberts and yours truly about the quality of journalism today – especially when it comes to reporting disasters like the Germanwings incident. Read it here or click on the picture. I defend the work of the journalists…

How Bad Is Breaking News?
How Bad Is Breaking News?

I suspect, I am not alone when I say that the news media is always extremely passionate in how it presents national and international news, but forget that ‘people failings’ due to poor policy-making decisions is an area that FAILS to be addressed or covered extensively by them – opening-up a REAL debate about the reality of failings, challenges that many have experienced amid the hard and struggle to achieve BIG things?
How do I know this is so?
Well, there has been many policy failings – not least the failure of viable small businesses and those bold people who simply and desperately sought to develop their ideas and build their business… and future – and I, like many others passionate about Small Business Community watched the news media seemingly and ‘purposely’ fail to highlight any of this over these previous five-years of government.
One would have thought that the news media would want to harness such VOICES and challenge political leaders on such failings… and simply ask these leaders who now seek more POWER “what will you do to prevent such an appalling failings from occurring ever again”. But,. that has never happened.
If achieving UPWARDS social mobility is fundamental to political, economic and personal – as it is to raising Professional and Social Productivity – and creating a balance in our society where those who stem from disadvantaged backgrounds can achieve business success and INSPIRE change within communities – why is the news media NEVER willing to address such failings as ‘breaking news’ or a ‘national disaster?’
Isn’t it about time that our news media gets REAL… and starts to reflect such realities.. and Voices consistently?
