“London School of Economics and Political Science….wow!! What an amazing achievement to be accepted!!”
A common reaction from everyone… followed by “but what are you going to do at LSE?”
This was the first impression of LSE for my family and friends… a school for Economics and not for science/medicine or dentistry graduates like me. When the euphoria of acceptance settled in, I too started having second thoughts about what LSE would offer a postgraduate in dentistry like me?
I went through the modules being offered in the MSc Global Health Policy, and with a bit of scepticism to be honest, took the next step of accepting my offer. Its been five weeks of learning so far…and I can say it with confidence…I am so glad I took this step.
The modules, the teaching, the seminars, the platform… it’s all been beyond my expectations. I have always been passionate about academics and research in my own area of specialisation in dentistry and Global Health Policy at LSE has offered me all this and much more.
The course is dynamic not only in terms of the modules being offered but also the faculty. There is a genuine effort from each faculty member to stimulate thinking, encourage opinions and make the process of learning so interesting. The course is definitely in sync with the evolving thought processes in terms of rethinking policies in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I am amazed with the knowledge that I have acquired in these five weeks and I am eager to learn more in my year here. #
I will be able to summarise better once I complete all my modules but the journey so far has been very encouraging and I look forward to my time here both at LSE and in the Department of Health Policy.
