Why you should live in Sidney Webb House

I live in Sidney Webb House, one of the LSE Student Accommodation halls managed by Unite Students. The accommodation is a 15-minute walk away from Borough Market and is very centrally located. It also happens to be right next to another student accommodation, Lilian Knowles House, so the neighbourhood is very student friendly and safe. There are some really nice pubs and restaurants in the neighbourhood and Mercato Metropolitano is only ten minutes away. You will also find a Sainsbury’s across the street and three Tesco Express’ that are also within a ten-minute walking distance.

I live in one of the single-ensuite flats with three other lovely flatmates who are also postgraduate students. Sidney Webb is mostly a postgraduate student accommodation, but you might also find some undergraduates living in some of the flats. Our flat is big enough for four people with a common kitchen and living area. The kitchen comes with basic electronic appliances and storage, enough for the residents of the flats. I find our kitchen to be perfect for our flat, it’s big enough for all of us to cook together but also not so big that it becomes difficult to keep clean.

Sidney Webb offers a lot of other amenities. There’s an IT room, a study room, a small gym, a student common room and a laundry room. Considering the number of students that live in Sidney Webb, I would say the facilities are sufficient for everyone to make use of. What is really cool about Sidney Webb is that some of the rooms face the Shard and, if you’re lucky, you can wake up looking at a beautiful skyscraper every day.

For me, what makes Sidney Webb a really fun place to live in are the countless events that the Hall Committee organises regularly. There are game nights, pizza parties, festival celebrations and many more activities that are so much fun to take part in. One of my favourite parts of living at Sidney Webb is meeting and befriending someone new at each event.

As a postgraduate student, you might think living in student accommodation would be a bit boring, but I’ve found my experience to be the opposite. I have found a nice, helpful community of friends who are all navigating their life and time in London and living in an accommodation like Sidney Webb makes the entire journey easier.
