At LSE, our commitment is to accessibility and inclusion for all students, irrespective of their geographical origin or social background. We recognise that the global education system presents numerous systemic and financial challenges, hindering many talented students from pursuing their academic aspirations. In response, LSE is dedicated to assisting prospective students facing financial hardships, ensuring that economic barriers do not obstruct their pursuit of academic excellence and the realisation of their dreams.
To this end, LSE has an application administrative fee waiver, aimed at broadening the diversity of our applicants across various social backgrounds.
Who should apply?
- Students experiencing persistent financial hardship, especially those in conflict-affected countries or without access to banking services, are encouraged to apply.
- Refugees, asylum-seekers, individuals with humanitarian protection, discretionary leave to remain, and stateless persons are also encouraged to apply for an application fee waiver. Your circumstances do not define your potential or limit your possibilities.
Application timeline
We recommend early applications due to the competitive nature of posgraduate admissions. Applying early for a postgraduate degree increases your chances of success, allows you to meet visa deadlines, and potentially secure scholarships or funding from LSE or external sources. Be mindful of funding opportunities, as these often have early application deadlines. As for the administrative fee waiver, make sure you submit the request at least 10 working days before any application/funding deadlines. If your request for a fee waiver is approved, you will be able to submit your online application without the need to pay the fee.
