Join us on the LSE Community Engagement Programme 2023!

Charity applications are now open for the Community Engagement Programme 2023, which will run between 18 January and 22 March 2023!

The Community Engagement Programme is a consultancy-style scheme in which teams of LSE students volunteer to help UK and overseas charities to resolve ‘challenges’ they face.  Last year, our teams helped charities to generate ideas for reaching more and a greater diversity of volunteers, revise their working practices in a ‘post-COVID world’, evaluate the services they provide their beneficiaries, review and consolidate their mission, and continue to expand their knowledge base on pressing causes, using material and skills developed on their degrees.

Each team will have 7 LSE student volunteers on it, drawn from a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and all with a passion for the work that you do.  You’ll meet with them weekly or every two weeks.  They’ll also be supported by the LSE Volunteer Centre, professional services divisions across the LSE, and an LSE alumni mentor working in a relevant field.

You can read about the fantastic feedback we received from charity partners, students and alumni involved in the 2022 programme here!

If you’d like to join us in 2023, please complete our application form before 21 October 2022.  If you have any questions or would like to talk anything through before completing the form, please contact Dr Rosalind Coffey at R.S.Coffey@lse.ac.uk.  You can also find further details on the programme in this document on key dates, essential information about the programme, and guidance on writing project briefs.

Our vision is one in which ‘excellence in higher education and community outreach and support intersect’ (2022 charity partner).  We would love to partner with you to create social impact and connection at a time when community is needed perhaps more than ever.

Please note: student applications to the programme open in November 2022
