Student Led Volunteering Projects

Are you interested in starting your own volunteering project and making a difference in your local community or beyond? Working with fellow LSE students who want to volunteer with your project? LSE Volunteer Centre is launching a new programme for students who want to do exactly that.

Student Led Projects give you the opportunity to take on a leadership role within your volunteering and gives you the opportunity to set up your own volunteering project, possibly working with local charities and community groups. This could be anything, we want to encourage all ideas to come forward with their proposals. Some examples could be setting up a gardening club, working with local schools/youth groups, setting up a music group in hospitals, plus many more!

As part of the programme, you’ll be given leadership training, delivered by LSE Careers, as well as volunteer recruitment and management training, delivered by LSE Volunteer Centre. All of these will prepare you for the smooth running of your project as well and supplying you with the knowledge and skills to be a good project leader. LSE Volunteer Centre will be providing financial support for student led projects, for any equipment necessary and/or travel expenses.

Alongside this you will be part of the Moodle page which holds a bank of resources to guide you in setting up and launching your volunteering project. This includes project proposal documents, budget planning, communicating with partners, communicating with student volunteers, handover documents and much more.

If you are interested in finding out more, please come along to the information session tomorrow at 1:00pm or email volutneer@lse.ac.uk

If this has inspired you to volunteer, check out one of our other ongoing opportunities or book a one-to-one with David Coles, the Volunteer Centre Manager if you have more questions. And why not follow us on Twitter, and Instagram to stay up-to-date with our events and opportunities and read our blog for more volunteering tips and stories.
