Welcome to LSE or welcome back!

I’m David and I’m the Volunteer Centre Manager at LSE. The LSE Volunteer Centre is here to help you find rewarding volunteering opportunities for causes you are passionate about, during your time at LSE.

We know that LSE students want to make the world a better place and the truth is, you are never more needed. That’s why we work with hundreds of charity and NGO partners to promote a really diverse number of opportunities. You can check these out on LSE CareerHub, our online vacancy board. So whether your passionate about homelessnesssupporting refugees or giving young people the best possible start, we’ll support you in finding that perfect opportunity.

So how can you get involved?

  1. Make sure that you sign up to the our Volunteering Fair, taking place on 2 October in LSE LIFE. This is the perfect place to meet over 40 charities and find out about their opportunities. You can also join our seminars, such as “How, why, what and when for volunteering”. Check out our events page for all of them.
  2. Sign up for the Volunteer Centre newsletter by logging in to your LSE CareerHub account, going to preferences and selecting ‘volunteering’ under service. We’ll keep you up to date with all the volunteering news on campus and our opportunities of the week email.
  3. Do you have an idea for a new volunteering project that you could start with fellow students? LSE student-led volunteering projects give you the opportunity to start your own volunteering programme. Join our information seminar on 11 October to find out more.
  4. Talk to us on social media! We have X/Twitter Instagram, Threads, and Student Hub accounts and also run a blog highlighting the great volunteering that LSE students complete, also adding to various debates within the voluntary sector. This year, we’ve also created a WhatsApp community so you can stay up-to-date on all things volunteering at LSE.
  5. Finally, you can book one-to-one appointments with me on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings through LSE CareerHub where we can talk about how to get involved in volunteering during your time here.

The LSE Volunteer Centre Team hope you have a wonderful time at LSE and we hope to help you find a volunteering opportunity that you are passionate about!

Kind regards,

David Coles
