LSE London launched a new report, commissioned by the Family Building Society on “Achieving a more coherent and consistent approach to housing policy” in Parliament on Monday 5 June 2023The report sets out the need for a coherent and integrated housing policy instead of the siloed approach which currently dominates. The research leading to the report examined eight major  policy reviews carried out by government and by independent Commissions since the 1970s and asks why the lessons from these careful assessments appear to have had little direct impact on  policy although they have helped to improve analysis.  Instead the many policy makers in different Departments and Organisations who  need to work more closely together appear to take little notice of what others are doing.  The discussion that followed was forward looking and suggested some more positive approaches.  Further work over the next few months will aim to provide a clearer agenda.
