Judy Yates who died last May was the leading housing economist in Australia – not only as an academic at the University of Sydney but also as adviser to the Australian government and the Federal Reserve Bank. She and Christine Whitehead worked together for more than forty years and wrote many papers together. Judy was a regular attendee at European Network of Housing Research conferences as well as taking part in many comparative research projects. She was well known by housing researchers across the world. One of her international roles was as a member of the Housing Studies Editorial Board and the Journal is honouring her with a special issue featuring six of her articles.
