Last month LSE London responded to the Department of Levelling Up , Housing and Communities Technical Consultation on the Homelessness Prevention Grant 2023/24 onwards. Attached is a slightly revised version of our response. In it we raised a number of fundamental issues about the potential impact on London’s boroughs which currently fund accommodation for 60% of all households in temporary accommodation. Despite the statement that the proposed new formulae would ensure adequate funding to ensure adequate provision, many London boroughs appear to lose out under either formula, mainly because the emphasis is more on the costs of administering the system than on the costs of the accommodation itself.
This is very insightful thanks for sharing.
The section on data really stood out as we have been working to improve data collection processes, especially for women sleeping rough.
