As an international student studying in London for nearly a year and a half, I hardly need to tell you why life in London is the best. Nonetheless, here’s my list of the 8 coolest things to do as a student in London. If you have any suggestions of your own, please do share them with me in the comments section!
1. Zip Now London!
Check out their website here https://zip-now.co/zip-now/
‘I would recommend this!’: 100/100
One of my favourite experiences in MY WHOLE LIFE! As the biggest and the fastest city centre zip wire in the world, Zip Now is a challenge you should definitely try out. Whether you are a thrill-seeker or a regular student like me, the 225-metre journey within just a few second will surely blow your mind.
2. Skating at Somerset House
Check out their website here https://www.somersethouse.org.uk/whats-on/skate-somerset-house
‘I would recommend this!’: 99.9/100
For LSE students, Somerset House is just 5 minutes’ walk away from the campus! Enjoy your night skating at one of the most beautiful ice rinks in London with your fanciest ice-skating outfit. The rink-side Fortnum’s Christmas Arcade is also back this winter. Be sure to go shop for your Christmas gifts.
3. Ballie Ballerson Ball Pit
Check out their website here https://checkout.timeout.com/london/ballie-ballerson-57136/
‘I would recommend this!’: 99.8/100
The famous ball pit bar boasts its magical ONE MILLION balls in the pool. An experience that will help you escape from your LSE workload for a while and have your Insta feed within just a few hours.

4. The State Rooms, Buckingham Palace
Check out their website here https://www.rct.uk/visit/the-state-rooms-buckingham-palace
‘I would recommend this!’: 99.7/100
If the Buckingham Palace Changing Guard is your thing, you should definitely check out the summer opening of the State Rooms. The feeling of actually being inside the Palace is fantastic. (Plus, the ice cream at the exit is the best!)
5. English Afternoon Tea!
‘I would recommend this!’: 100/100
An extremely important business in Britain. No visit to the British capital is complete without taking afternoon tea. Treat yourself to a proper English afternoon tea after exams and have a taste of the delicate British afternoon tea etiquette.
6. Taiwanese Bubble Milk Tea in London!
‘I would recommend this!’: 100/100
Taiwanese can’t live their lives without bubble milk tea. Extremely lucky to have so many bubble milk tea brands here in London: Coco, Yifang Fruit Tea, Chatime etc. As a Taiwanese student highly dependent on bubble milk tea, I find them very helpful in easing homesickness during exam periods. The Coco branch next to British Museum is just 15 minutes’ walk away from LSE.
7. Musicals!
‘I would recommend this!’: 100/100
As an international student on a tight budget in costly London, I spend most my pennies on musicals. I’ve watched 5 musicals in London and so far Aladdin is my favourite! Once again, the Novello Theatre for Mamma Mia is just next to the LSE campus. (my next target)
- Richmond Park
‘I would recommend this!’: 100/100
OH DEER! A perfect escape from central London for a visit to the deer. Richmond Park, a hidden gem in London, is a haven for those seeking a moment of tranquillity. Bring your picnic with you and look for these elegant shy creatures.
Well, the prestigious location of LSE means that many cool things are on your doorstep. I can’t wait to tick more boxes off my to-do list in London during my life at the LSE!
This helps a lot and gives me some ideas for my trip to London this winter! Plz post more as it’ll provide a perspective to travel locally!
Such an honour that I’ve been through 5/8 of the coolest things she mentioned!
