London is an incredibly festive season during the Chirstmas holiday! You’ll feel the holiday spirit in most places you go, but there are a couple of specific things you’ll want to be sure to check out.
High streets throughout the City
London streets transform as the holiday season comes around. This isn’t necessarily due to the people (although they are a bit more jolly) but instead due to the annual lights and decorations that switch on around the Christmas season. The Christmas lights show up at Oxford Street first, but by mid-November, you can witness these amazing lights all around the city. Be sure to check out everywhere from Regents Street to Covent Garden to Marylebone. There are plenty of opportunities for you to get happily blinded by all the glorious Christmas lights.
Christmas markets and shops
Another incredible way to feel cheery in London during the Christmas season is by taking a visit to one of the many Christmas shops and markets around the city. Once again, London makes it easy by having markets all around the city. My personal favourite is the Leicester Square Christmas Market, but don’t let that stop you from visiting all of the other amazing markets. Each will be filled with lights, unique Christmas gifts, and typically some tasty food as well. The markets are something you don’t want to miss.
Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland
Last on the list, is Winter Wonderland – which is an annual event when Hyde Park transforms into a wonderland filled with plethora of festive activities, food, and memorabilia. Winter Wonderland has something for everyone. Whether you are an adventure seeker looking to jump on some rides, love a good Christmas show, or are a foodie that wants to try out festive treats, you’ll have a great time here. Tickets do tend to sell out, so make sure to grab a friend and plan a fun-filled day at Winter Wonderland this Christmas season.
