Harrods unveiled: a complete guide to a full-day experience

Looking to indulge in some retail therapy while you’re in London? Enter, Harrods. Tailor-made for those quintessential rainy British days, since everything is under one roof. Discover my helpful guide to make the most of your downtime on such days. For a seamless plan, keep reading!

➢  6th Floor: Salon de Parfums

My strategy when shopping in Harrods is to begin at the top and work my way down. These areas tend to be quieter, offering prime customer service. First, ascend to the 6th floor to discover the Salon de Parfums—a haven for crafting bespoke fragrances and personalised perfume bottles. (Psst. it makes an exquisite gift for someone special).

➢  5th Floor: Gaming fanatics and self-care

Below, a gamer’s paradise awaits you once you’ve submerged yourself in alluring new scents. Albeit a bit lavish, the ultimate tech haven is something I find myself admiring from afar. And for those craving a rejuvenating break from university stress, I recommend visiting the Harrods’ Hair & Beauty Salon or indulge in Shoe Heaven. (P.S. Men’s shoe collection awaits on the second floor, more on this soon.)

➢  4th Floor: Wizarding World

All you Potterheads, listen up! There is a charming Wizarding World inside Harrods, but be careful around muggles. Upon reentry into reality, enjoy browsing the Women’s Contemporary & Denim sections. A Maria Tash Piercing enclave awaits the daring, ideal for a dash of spontaneity.

➢  3rd Floor: Aesthetics and a mini tea break

Much of the home and furniture floor usually doesn’t capture my attention, perhaps due to personal preference and age. Instead, I take the direct route, which drops me off at the Harrods Café just in time for the arrival of my favourite departments. For a quick treat, I advise a dessert; what would be your top pick? The Mango & Passionfruit Dome. As for my main meal, I prefer exploring other corners of the store!

➢  2nd Floor: Trainers addicts and Menswear

Looking for the elusivest pair of trainers? Look no further than Edit LDN in Harrods. Make sure your classroom attire includes the freshest kicks, including New Balance 550s and Jordan 1s and 4s. And that melodious voice echoing isn’t store music—it’s the legendary chef at the Pizzeria & Pasqua, one of my favourite restaurants!

➢  1st Floor: Fine jewellery and Womenswear

Step into scenes reminiscent of a real-life Barbie movie, where top designer ensembles and exquisite fashion jewellery intertwine. Exploring this area might just guide you to your own Ken.

➢  Ground Floor: Food, glorious food, and more

It’s self-explanatory why I begin my Harrods journey from the top down, a choice you’ll appreciate upon reaching The Food Halls. Your appetite is piqued by the irresistible pastries and Instagram-worthy cakes that beckon. If that’s not enough, The Grill and Pasta Evangelists, two of TikTok’s most well-known eateries, are also located on this floor. Following your enjoyment of these treats, your favourite beauty brands can be replenished at The Beauty Halls. As you enter the Fine Jewellery & Watches section, the twinkle in your eyes serves as a reminder to work hard at LSE. Who’s to say you won’t come back to buy yourself a graduation present? Let’s manifest it into existence!

➢   LG Floor: Harrods Bookshop & Christmas World

For us book lovers, the exceptional Harrods Bookshop is a haven. It’s worth checking out because I frequently find it to be pleasantly uncrowded when I visit. Additionally, if you’re an international student, don’t miss the chance to browse the Harrods Gift and Christmas World Shop, which is conveniently located next to the bookstore and features British and Harrods merchandise.

Concluding remarks

Harrods offers a plethora of activities, from Beauty Events to diverse dining options. Plan your day to your interests. Even though the focus of this blog has been everything Harrods, the neighbourhood around Knightsbridge station is beautiful. If Harrods isn’t your style, head outside to find boutique cafés across the street that serve delicious pastries. Alternatively, the National History Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum are a mere stone’s throw away, perfect for exploration if you have some extra time on your hands.
