If you choose this programme, you’ll have the opportunity to benefit from two different cultures and experiences. In the first year, you will based at the London School of Economics (LSE) in London, UK, where you’ll learn a wealth of theoretical knowledge and build a solid foundation in media studies and communication. In the second year, you’ll go to University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, USA. You’ll build upon your theoretical knowledge, but also gain more practical opportunities to apply your theoretical knowledge to the real world. This combination of will give you an excellent learning experience. Additionally, the accolades of LSE and USC in the field of media are very significant. In 2023, LSE ranked first in the UK and third in the world in the communications and media field, while USC ranked first in the US and second in the world in this field. So, if you want to study media, this programme is a good choice.

Curriculum

In the first year at LSE, students will take three compulsory courses including Theories and Concepts in Media and Communications, Media and Globalisation, and Methods of Research in Media and Communications (including Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis). Additionally, students can choose two or three elective courses that they are interested in, including courses from other LSE departments. After going to USC in the second year, students will enter the Annenberg School to study relevant media courses.

The MSc in Global Media and Communications (LSE and USC) is offered by the Department of Media and Communications at LSE. The professors impart cutting-edge media knowledge, and you’ll be assigned a mentor after admission.
