It is almost the end of Lent Term 2022, so we wanted to take the time to celebrate all of the amazing volunteering that has being going on this term. Here at the LSE Volunteer Centre, we’ve been inspired by all the students taking time out of their busy schedules to get involved in the community and help others. This term, 145 students booked themselves onto a wide variety of exciting one-off volunteering opportunities. Students knitted to help refugees, got their hands dirty at the Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park, painted with the Canal and River Trust and much more!
We were also really excited to celebrate the great work of our student volunteer consultants at the Community Engagement Programme Finals Day. Students from across LSE collaborated to help 9 of our partner charities with pressing challenges including educational inequality, sustainable development, and social care. Students created research-based consultancy recommendations for causes they were passionate about, and we were so honoured to celebrate their hard work this term.
This term, we were also celebrating Student Volunteering Week 2022, a whole week dedicated to celebrating the fantastic volunteering students do in their local and wider communities. We had an action-packed week this year. We had 5 charities came to campus to help get students involved in volunteering, 4 one-off volunteering opportunities, collaborated with 3 different University societies to hold fundraisers and awareness for causes students care about, with 15 events in total!
If you or someone you know has been involved with volunteering this year, nominations have opened for our LSE Volunteer Awards. Nominations close 24th April, and the winners will be announced at our ceremony in May.
We can’t wait to continue celebrating our volunteering community at LSE.
