This lecture examines the implications of Brexit for British and EU foreign policy, a topic which has not been extensively debated either in the UK or the EU.
It will show why Brexit will have more serious negative consequences for British foreign policy than for the EU’s. It will then illustrate the challenges the UK will face in negotiating an agreement with the EU on foreign, security and defence policy, by investigating the partnership options that are available to ‘third countries’.
