Salary from £31,029 to £35,635 pa with potential to progress to £38,283 pa inclusive of London allowance (pro-rata)

This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years and is part time at 14 hours per week (0.4 FTE)

The LSE Eden Centre brings together educational, technological, and developmental expertise to support the development of academic staff and enable curriculum enrichment and digital innovation at LSE in both face-to-face and online education. The centre works with academic and professional services colleagues across the School and in partnership with students to enhance research-rich education in line with the priorities of the LSE 2030 School strategy and ‘Education for Global Impact’. The LSE Higher Education (HE) Blog was re-launched in 2019 and is committed to enabling dialogue and sharing different perspectives in a changing HE landscape.

We are now recruiting for an Assistant Editor, LSE HE Blog on a part-time, fixed-term contract. The post holder will be responsible for commissioning, editing, and posting content for the LSE HE Blog. The Assistant Editor will liaise closely with the Editor to ensure the blog functions as an outward-facing forum for academics, educators, and students to share and discuss their experiences and insights into teaching and learning, and to present a bold, multi-perspective view of higher education in the UK and globally, informing stakeholders and the wider public in a timely and balanced manner.

The successful candidate will have interest in or knowledge of current issues, policies, and practice in the higher education sector; editing, sub-editing, and proofreading skills; and experience commissioning blogposts, briefing contributors, applying editorial criteria and guidelines, and publishing blogposts. The candidate will also have excellent written and oral communication skills, organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
