Charity Applications: Summer Volunteering Scheme for Disabled Students 2024

The LSE Volunteer Centre is thrilled to announce thatcharity applications are now open for the Summer Volunteering Scheme 2024!

The Summer Volunteering Scheme’s purpose is to broaden access to volunteering opportunities for LSE students as well as to promote inclusivity in the charity sector.  The scheme is run by the LSE Volunteer Centre and Viki Chinn, an LSE Careers Consultant at LSE Careers, who specialises in the field of disability and employment.

If you are interested in participating in the scheme, please complete our charity application form.  For this, you will need to create a role advert for a new or existing volunteering opportunity that you wish to fill between 15 July and 20 September 2024.  All volunteering placements should be for individuals and will last for between 4 and 8 weeks (7-14 hours per week).  We’ll discuss the role with you, advertise it, recruit a student, brief you on adjustment requirements and be a port of call for you and the student for the scheme’s duration.

Due to high student demand, we are particularly keen to promote high impact volunteering roles which provide opportunities for the LSE volunteers fully to apply their academic, personal and professional skills and expertise.

The deadline for applications is15 April 2024.  However, we will be considering all applications on a rolling basis.  Your early application would be much appreciated to enable us to plan the most effectively.  We aim to create 15-20 student/charity partnerships.

If you’d like to talk with us before applying, we’re holding an online charity briefing session for the scheme on Monday 25 March 2024 1.30 – 2.30pm.  If you’d like to attend, please register via this Zoom link. If another time is better, please email volunteer@lse.ac.uk to arrange a meeting at a different time.
