Lent Term 2021 Wrapped Up

Before we relax into the spring break, we want to celebrate the end of Lent Term 2021! We’re doing a recap of some of the fantastic accomplishments LSE volunteers have made this year. The LSE Volunteer Centre has seen lots of students getting involved in their local communities and online. All of our one-off volunteering sessions this term were hosted online, but over 150 students attended to create cards, write letters for human rights and even identifying safari animals.

During Lent Term we were also able to launch the very first LSE Community Engagement Programme 2021, where 49 students completed a small consultancy piece for one of our partner charities! In Week 9, each team presented their findings and spoke to a judging panel about their reflections on the programme (more info coming soon).

This term we took Student Volunteering Week online, as your Student Volunteering Ambassadors organised events and a fantastic social media campaign. In conjunction with the LSESU Visual Arts Society, students created fantastic post cards to send to our partner charity, Post Pals! We also hosted an interesting Take Action panel focusing on educational inequality.

We also launched the nominations for the LSE Volunteer Awards! Whilst we can’t host the awards in person, we’ll be pulling out all the stops to celebrate the fantastic work of our LSE student volunteers at the virtual awards! Please do keep nominating students and organisations for the awards, more information can be found here.

The staff in the Volunteer Centre will be taking a short break over school closures but we’ll be back on Monday 12 April! We hope everyone has a well-deserved break over the Easter holidays before they start studying.

You can drop us an email, book an online appointment and we’ve got lots of information on how you can volunteer at the moment. As always, students are able to check out one of our other 200+ ongoing opportunities on CareerHub. If you want to share your volunteering experience with us, why not write us a blog? Have a scroll through our blog page to read what other students have written and get inspired! Whether you’ve just taken up volunteering, have been doing it for a while or have done it in the past, let us know!
