One could as well ask: Is philosophy a force for good? Is economy a force for good? Is politics a force for good? It all depends on the specific faith, economic or political system one is talking about. It can be a way to heaven, it can be a way to hell. Mind: there is nothing in between. If a prophet is of God, his words and deeds and life will be consistent with each other and will show you goodness, truth, and spiritual beauty. Not much to choose here.
